Prevent Premature Watch Battery Replacement With These Lifespan Extending Tips
In today’s world, most people use their mobile phones to tell the time. While many predicted that this would lead to the downfall of watches, the opposite has occurred. Watches have never been more popular and are still considered a necessity – with the added benefit of being a style statement.
If you wear a watch, you’ll know it’s a reasonably low maintenance accessory – but that it can, and will eventually run out of battery life. Here are a few things you can do to extend its lifespan.
Tip #1 – Stop The Clock
Does your watch have a chronograph feature? If you can’t answer this question, then there’s a good chance that even if you do have one – you don’t need it. This is good news, as by turning off this function you can extend your battery lifespan.
Tip# 2 – Keep It Cool
Guilty of cramming your watch into the glove compartment of your car? While you might think being in its box protects it, sun and heat exposure, in general, is bad for watch batteries. Keep yours in a cool and dry place to keep it working as it should for longer.
Tip #3 – Pull The Crown
This tip works well if you have several watches in your collection. When switching from one to another, pull out the crown to temporarily deactivate your watch. This is also a great choice if you travel frequently – as you change timezones, your watch will need adjusting anyway.
I Think I Need A Replacement…
If your watch continues to give you problems or stops working, you might need to replace the battery or have your watch serviced. For this, we don’t recommend a DIY job! Watches have delicate mechanisms that can easily break and need to be repaired by an experienced watch repairer who has the necessary skills to undergo this type of work.
